First it’s probably a good idea to explain the differences between a pellet press and a briquette press. In appearance they are very similar, it’s just the size that’s different. The pellet press produces pellets, this are typically around 6mm in diameter. Briquettes on the other hand are much large in diameter and look more like a small log. Some people prefer the idea of briquettes, as they are familiar with logs. However pellets made on the pellet press can also be used in standard solid fuel stoves with the help of a pellet basket. If you have a solid fuel range cooker pellets are actually better, as you can really control the temperature of the fire by adding a few wood pellets at a time. Also wood pellets produced in the pellet press actually burn better than wood briquettes, as a pellet fire has a larger surface area. However pellets can also be used in highly automated pellet stoves and boilers unlike briquettes.
